11 April 2010 BLACKBURN 0 MANCHESTER UNITED 0 Man United's title hopes took a dent as they were held at Blackburn. Chances were few and far between with United's best opportunity falling to Antonio Valencia who was denied by keeper Paul Robinson after breaking clear. Attendance : 29,912 Assists : n/a LIVERPOOL 0 FULHAM 0 Liverpool hopes of grabbing a European place look increasingly unlikely after falling to see off Fulham at Anfield. Liverpool had by far the better of things but visiting keeper Mark Schwarzer kept them out with decent stops from Ryan Babel and Alberto Aquilani. Attendance : 42,331 Assists : n/a MANCHESTER CITY 5 (Tevez 38 Pen, Tevez 40, Adebayor 43, Onuoha 74, Adebayor 88) BIRMINGHAM 1 (Jerome 42) Man City consolidated fourth place as they blitzed Birmingham at Eastlands. After a goalless 38 minutes, the game exploded with four goals in a crazy six minute spell. City got the first two as Carlos Tevez sent the keeper the wrong way from the penalty spot after Emmanuel Adebayor was bundled over by Scott Dann and then he netted again with the slightest touch onto a thumping goalbound header from Nedum Onouha. Birmingham pulled one back within two minutes when Cameron Jerome was left unmarked to head in James McFadden's cross but they had no time to celebrate as City restored their two goal lead when Adebayor had a tap in from Craig Bellamy's low cross. Having been denied a goal by Tevez earlier, Onouha did find the net himself after the break when he collected a pass from Tevez before tearing through the defence and finding the bottom corner and late on Adebayor added a fifth when he was sent clear by Andy Johnson's long ball. Attendance : 45,209 Assists : Adebayor (won pen), Onuoha, McFadden, Bellamy, n/a, Johnson WOLVES 0 STOKE 0 Attendance : 28,455 Assists : n/a 10 April 2010 HULL 1 (Kilbane 3) BURNLEY 4 (Paterson 35, Alexander 64 Pen, Alexander 70 Pen, Elliott 96 fk) Burnley won away for the first time this season as they came from behind to beat fellow relegation probables Hull. The hosts took an early lead when Kevin Kilbane headed in Jozy Altidore's cross but by the interval Burnley were level when Tyrone Mears crossed for Martin Paterson to take a touch at the near post, turn and fire across goal and inside the far post. Burnley won it with two penalties in the space of six second half minutes. The first came when a combination of George Boateng and Ibrahima Sonko hauled down Michael Duff, allowing Graham Alexander to score with an unconventional toe poked spot kick into the corner and then David Nugent was fouled by Steven Mouyokolo and Alexander found the top corner with a similar unusual style. Late on, Wade Elliott floated a superb free kick inside the far post from the left edge of the area to wrap things up. Both clubs are four points from safety. Attendance : 24,369 Assists : Altidore, Mears, Duff (won pen), Nugent (won pen), Thomson (won fk) WEST HAM 1 (Ilan 51) SUNDERLAND 0 West Ham moved four points above the drop zone with a narrow win against Sunderland - a result which relegated Portsmouth. The only goal came early in the second half as Carlton Cole's header was prodded in by Ilan. Attendance : 34,685 Assist : Cole LEADERS 74 points - Chelsea * 73 points - Manchester United 71 points - Arsenal * 62 points - Manchester City * * = 33 games played Gary Dowden - Joint Admin YahooGroups Premier-L list http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/premier-l/ Leeds United and Scotland and proud of it
